What are THESE electrical transformers, part II?

I first thought the same thing - must be the doorbell. However, why are there 3 of them, one on each electrical box? I have only one doorbell. What are THESE electrical transformers, part II?Those are probably not transformers but relays.

Are the red and white wires connected to sort of "bell wire" or wire that looks like thermostat wire?

Usually these things used low voltage to turn on and off and had a line and load wire for the 120 volt for light.

They may be disconnected and have been convr

erted to regular switching.

The way this system was hooked up was that a transformer from 120 volts to 12 or 24 volts was used to provide low cost wiring (bell wire) to be used for switches and uou could put as many switches to operate a light by only using 2 wires. Straight 120 power was to all lights

and then connected through the load side of the relays.

Saved a lot of heavy wiring. Some homes had a step switch for emergency where as every light in the house could be put on by flipping one switch. This was for people who were afraid of intruders

and could do this when they heard a noise or when returning home from out. What are THESE electrical transformers, part II?Are the ceiling lights they're attached to some sort of low voltage light? Get on a ladder in your hallway and take a peek at the fixture. See if you can see a label on it, or maybe look at the lamp. If they are indeed low voltage lights of some sort, and there is still 120V switched power running to each location, then you should be able to switch them out for whatever new fixtures you want to put in.What are THESE electrical transformers, part II?I have heard of the low voltage switched lights, The lights are 110 volts and the switch is called connected to a relay. I hate to say this but I think it is time to call in the pros and have them look at it, Just to be on the safe side.

You might be able to have a electrical friend or a friend of a friend just look with no charge.

Good LuckWhat are THESE electrical transformers, part II?
they are probably lo votl power for a heating thermostst , door bell and power to a furnace
