At the beginning of the film, Bumble Bee was a 1976 Chevy Camaro. After he changed to the 'new' style, he was a concept of the 2010 Chevy Camaro.



At the time the film was being made, the 2010 version was not yet in production; in fact, the car on the set was the ONLY one in the world! The actors had to be extremely careful when driving it because if they even scratched it, they could have held up production. It wasn't as simple as replacing a part and moving on. I think the older car was a 1975. The new car was actually just a concept car since the new Camaro wasn't in production yet when the movie came out.
