What do you think of California wanting to pass legislation to revise textbooks to include?

Gay and Lesbian historical figures. I am interested in your opinion. What do you think of California wanting to pass legislation to revise textbooks to include?I am just Wilde about it Oscar. Let me put down my beer stein, Gertrude, and my Alice B. Toklas brownies so I can answer your question. Isn't it queer you should ask? I know nothing of this. I don't believe one's sexuality should include anyone or exclude anyone as far as historical significance is concerned. I don't think gays should be villified or glorified. The only thing that gives me pause is that it raises homophobia to the same level as racism. One cannot choose one's skin color, except for George Hamilton and Michael Jackson. What do you think of California wanting to pass legislation to revise textbooks to include?

What do you think of California wanting to pass legislation to revise textbooks to include? Why is a historical figures sexual preference a requirement to tell a tale of a historical event? If Columbus was Gay would it change his discovery? I could go on. I have Gay friends and have no issue with famous figures in History have had same sex relations I just don't see the relevance in it? History does have gay figures in it and same sex relations. Ancient Rome was a mecca for same sex relations. Even the Bible speaks of same sex relations. The bible itself is a historical book to some, so it does have homosexual figures in it. My main complaint is if it doesn't mean anything to event was does a figures sexual preference mean anything other than another attempt to pleas ea certain group!
I think it's a good idea. History should reflect the people who made it.What do you think of California wanting to pass legislation to revise textbooks to include?People should be studied in history because of their historical influence not their sexual preference(s).What do you think of California wanting to pass legislation to revise textbooks to include?
Sexual orientation of historical figures is not something we need to be teaching our kids. How about we focus on raising their test scores first? I have also heard that a part of this bill they're trying to pass will make it illegal to say anything bad about homosexuals. That's a little ridiculous in my opinion. But if you must teach about a historical figure's sexual orientation, at least keep it to the instances where that is actually relevant to that person's impact on history (like someone who stood up for gay rights, for example.)
Is that really necessary? Doesn鈥檛 anyone remember how we used to dress in this country 200+ years ago? I think we have covered it already. What do you think of California wanting to pass legislation to revise textbooks to include?
Well, it just might be that Arnold and his girlie man comment was a cover up and now we are seeing the real Arnold. One time Cruz Bustamante said during the election campaign that during the debate he caught Arnold staring at his cleavage. You just never know, do you. Seriously, I think that if it is a part of history it should be recorded. There are many "unsaid" things about Thomas Jefferson and his sexual preferences. :)
Are you serious? I haven't heard about this. Well we are talking about california....where the people actually elected the governator..so I guess anything is possible.

My question is..what is the big deal...why does a person's sexual orientation have anything to do with their impact in history or the present....that's my opinion..that and 75 cents will get ya a candy bar

:-)
I think it's important. Kids need to be taught the reality that gay people do exist. I wish it would happen in more states.
There are about 6 zillion interest groups and nationalities lined up and waiting impatiently for a higher profile in textbooks, libraries in general..so why shouldn't gays be considered as one. It depends on if you think they recieve attention out of proportion and that is a murky area if you ask me. And you did.
